Question:

Have you added or considered adding additional reviewers to your blog? Why or why not? If you have, please share how you found the right match when bringing new people to your established blog. Did you encounter any problems?

Answer:

I’ve thought about it, but I really feel like my blog is something personal, and I’ve put so much hard work into it that I’m not really wanting to share. This blog is like my baby! That’s not to say that if I ever convince my fiance to write a quick review that I won’t post it on here, but that’s different, same as guest posts.

I don’t think this will change at any time in the future. I’ve realized that even if my life gets really busy, I can just slow down my posting or switch things up and people will understand, so I don’t need another person to keep up the pace with me. Other blogs that do share their blog with many people, that’s awesome! There are lots of blogs that have many people that I love to read, but it’s just not something that I can do right now.

How about you, do you have/want associate reviewers?

Lets-Talk

Welcome to the Let’s Talk weekly discussion meme!

Originally hosted by Melissa from i swim for oceans, Smash & Kt took her original inspiration, and made it their own, expanding it to more than just books. Let’s get personal (but respectfully so) and learn more about one another!  Each week, a different question will be posted along with a place to link up your posts and visit other people’s responses. This meme is definitely meant to bring out conversation and meet new people. So, Let’s Talk!

Q:  Do you take advantage of Freebies? or Do you think Freebies are a good selling tool for authors and publishers?

A: I get free books once in a while from authors and very few from publishers, so I don’t think I’m really taking advantage. Most of the books I read on this blog are either bought by me or from the library. I do think that free books are a great way to help advertise as long as they’re given to bloggers, especially if they write fair reviews. Getting the book out there and recognized is the best way to make people remember it and want to buy a copy, I know when I see enough hype for a book and I remmber it I’m more likely to pick it up.

What do you think of freebies?

Question:

Reading challenges: Do you host or join in any? What is your success rate on completing them? Do they keep your reading goals on track, put too many restrictions/pressure on you?  What do you think makes for a successful reading challenge?

Answer:

I haven’t created/hosted any before but I have participated in a bunch since last year, and there seem to be a ton of them out there! I might do my own some day, but I have to think of something first.

I find that the more I try to complete in a year (last year I did 4 but managed to complete them somehow) the more stressed I feel about getting them done. I kept trying to pick books exclusively for those genre/type specific challenges and it left me less time for my own books or ones I wanted to read that didn’t fit.

This year I went for only two challenges and I decided that I’m not going to put any more pressure on myself to get them done, I’m just going to do my best and see what I can do. if I don’t get them done, at least I can say I tried! It doesn’t help that I’ve already had two reading slumps, almost as soon as the year started too.

I think that as long as there are either check-ins by the hosting blogs and people who can encourage you it would make it a lot more fun. Especially if it’s well organized and the hosts themselves are nice! I haven’t come across anyone bring otherwise so far, but you never know right.

How many challenges are you doing/hosting this year?

Question:

How long do you see yourself blogging for? Do you think it’s ok for a blog to evolve over time? For example: You may have started out as a book review blog but now your interest is in cooking as well. Do you incorporate that or start over?

Answer:

I wasn’t sure I’d even be blogging after one year, but I’m almost to two now! I’m just going to keep going as long as I can and enjoy all of it.

I don’t really see it as a problem with a blog changing, I mean before this one I blogged about the randomest things until I changed it to be centered around books.  That other blog only lasted a few months though. At this point, if I wanted to blog about other things I would create a new blog, just because I’ve put so much time into this and to change it again would be too much. If other people want to do a big change though, all the power to you!

How long do you see yourself blogging? How long have you been doing it so far?

Q:  When you get on the computer, what site distracts you from working on your blog?

A: Twitter always gets me the most. I may not always comment a ton but I do check out a lot of blogs and links to interesting things! On that note Pinterest is another site that I can waste a ton of time on. I’m not on there too often but when I am I can easily go an hour looking and pinning things.

What site sucks up the most of your time?
