Welcome to the Let’s Talk weekly discussion meme!

Originally hosted by Melissa from i swim for oceans, Smash & Kt took her original inspiration, and made it their own, expanding it to more than just books. Let’s get personal (but respectfully so) and learn more about one another!  Each week, a different question will be posted along with a place to link up your posts and visit other people’s responses. This meme is definitely meant to bring out conversation and meet new people. So, Let’s Talk!

Q:  Do you take advantage of Freebies? or Do you think Freebies are a good selling tool for authors and publishers?

A: I get free books once in a while from authors and very few from publishers, so I don’t think I’m really taking advantage. Most of the books I read on this blog are either bought by me or from the library. I do think that free books are a great way to help advertise as long as they’re given to bloggers, especially if they write fair reviews. Getting the book out there and recognized is the best way to make people remember it and want to buy a copy, I know when I see enough hype for a book and I remmber it I’m more likely to pick it up.

What do you think of freebies?

Q:  When you get on the computer, what site distracts you from working on your blog?

A: Twitter always gets me the most. I may not always comment a ton but I do check out a lot of blogs and links to interesting things! On that note Pinterest is another site that I can waste a ton of time on. I’m not on there too often but when I am I can easily go an hour looking and pinning things.

What site sucks up the most of your time?

Q:  Does your family approve of blogging and reading so much? How do you compromise when they object?

A: My mom and fiance don’t really have a problem with me reading at all, they usually encourage it. I don’t spend my entire evening and weekend reading, but when I do they’re usually doing other things at the same time and we still chat during it. I also tend to read during my lunch break and on the way to work when I do happen to take the bus, so that way I make sure to spend more time with them afterwards.

What does your family think?

Q: Are too many books being made into movies?

A: Honestly, I hadn’t really thought about it until now. I don’t go out to the movies too much because it’s so expensive these days, but there really are a lot of books being made into movies. I don’t know if it’s because they’re run out of ideas for original movies or they just really want to make some awesome books more real. (probably both)

I don’t really have a problem with it, I know there are some awesome ones that have already been made (Harry Potter and Hunger Games) so I will just have to see how more of them turn out.

What’s your thoughts on books being turned into movies these days?

Q: Do you rate a book differently based on the genre? Are there certain genres that you hold at a higher standard? Are there books that will gain an automatic “pass” or overlook of issues just because you love the genre/ type of world? If you don’t rate books, you can answer the questions based on your review criteria.

A: I tend to always try and rate books equally. I read certain genres like fantasy or paranormal more often, but they don’t always get the highest rating. It really just depends on how much I actually enjoyed the book while reading, and I always take notes so when I do the review and figure out the rating I can see what I liked and didn’t.
