When high school junior Natalie – or Dr. Aphrodite, as she calls herself when writing the relationship column for her school paper – is accused of knowing nothing about guys and giving girls bad relationship advice, she decides to investigate what guys really think and want. But the guys in her class won’t give her straight or serious answers. The only solution? Disguising herself as a guy and spending a week at Underwood Academy, the private all-boy boarding school in town. There she learns a lot about guys and girls in ways she never expected – especially when she falls for her dreamy roommate, Emilio. How can she show him she likes him without blowing her cover?

What I thought:

Her travel through the school of all guys for a week is pretty interesting, but it did remind me of the movie She’s the Man quite a bit (which I want to now watch), especially when she has to fake the pain of being hit in the lower region, and sharing a room with a boy who she happens to fall for. The way she got herself into the school was a bit too easy, not everyone has a genius hacking kid that they know, but it wasn’t bad.

It had lots of humour, making me laugh my head off sometimes. I just wished that it was a bit longer, went more in depth of her journey and her making new friends, and what she learned. I did like however how she changed her attitude from a stuck-up popular girl, to someone who cared about others and didn’t tell them what they just wanted to hear, but what they needed to. Her article at the end was very good and thoughful, and I did like the ending. A happily ever after!

I recommend this for anyone just wanting a light fun comedic, romantic, and contemporary read.
