Bout of Books 5.0 Goals and Updates

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal.  It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 13th and runs through Sunday, August 19th in whatever time zone you are in.  Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week.  There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.  For all Bout of Books 5.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.

I’m so excited for this!! If you know that you will be reading during this week, even a little, go sign up. There will be challenges and giveaways and lots of other fun stuff. I myself will be holding a giveaway again this time!

I’m planning to read mostly book that are on my Kobo, get as many as I can finished. They’re been sitting there for a while for the most part. All challenges I participate in will be in their own separate posts, and all my updates will stay on this page.

Goals:

  • Read 5 books/1500 pages
  • Comment on as many participators posts as possible
  • Check out all the challenges
  • Participate in the twitter chats

Time Devoted to Reading:

  • During the trip to and from work
  • Lunch break
  • Evenings & weekends

Wednesday

Currently Reading: Jenny Pox
Total number of books I’ve read: 1

Comments: I didn’t read much today, work was very busy, and I got to go have dinner with an old friend from high school. So still a good day!

Thursday

Currently Reading: Jenny Pox (finished)+ Masque of Read Death
Total number of books I’ve read: 2
Page Count: 103 + 84 (668 total)
Comments: Another busy day at work, but I managed to finish Jenny Pox, it was so good!! Decided to start reading a library book, which I added to the list just now, since they are getting closer to being due and I know I will be busy next weekend. Also, I did end up not attending the chat last night, I was so tired and just read in bed for a while. Hoping to be there for the one on Saturday!

Friday

Currently Reading: Masque of Red Death (finished) + Something Strange and Deadly
Total number of books I’ve read: 3
Page Count: 235 + 15 (918 total)
Comments: I ended up having lots of time at work to read today, and especially this evening! Finished a book and started a new one, and I’ve kept up with the reviews for the books I finished this week too. I think I may miss the twitter chat again tomorrow, I have a morning shopping trip with my mom, and it may just extend past lunch when the chat happens.

Saturday

Currently Reading: Something Strange and Deadly
Total number of books I’ve read:3
Page Count: 196 (1114 total)
Comments: I managed to make the twitter chat today after all and it was so awesome! I found new people to follow on there, and also I think I followed like 10 new blogs on my Google Reader. A good day, but I did get distracted a lot by the internet instead of reading.

Sunday

Currently Reading: Something Strange and Deadly (finished)
Total number of books I’ve read:4
Page Count: 177 (1291 total)
Comments: After finishing this book, I seemed to have hit a stump of what to read next, I wasn’t in the mood for anything. So I took a break the rest of the afternoon, wasted some time but didn’t really read. It was still an awesome day though! Did lots of blog hopping and some blog updating, and even hosted a giveaway for Bout of Books!

  1. Awesome picks for the readathon! I have to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Jenny Pox, too … though I’m not sure if they’ll be read for the readathon yet. I still have two weeks of the Olympic Readathon left where I’m conquering review books,so we’ll see what’s left afterwards. 🙂

    I’m excited for this one!

    • Yeah my list for this might change depending on the Olympic reads as well, and also if any library books come in they get read first!
      I’m excited too!

  2. Oh my goodness! It’s almost 2 weeks away and you’re already setting goals! I feel more like Scarlett O’Hara — “I can’t think about that right now. If I do, I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about that tomorrow.”

  3. Great picks! You’re gonna love Jenny Pox! I just downloaded the audio of Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but I’m going on a 5 hour road trip tomorrow so I’m listening to it then. Have fun and good luck! 😉

  4. I hope you get to Jenny Pox – I’ve been seeing some reviews of this around the blogosphere and I am very curious about it. I”m with you about reading ebooks and books I already have – I really need to start making a dent in my TBR list lol. Good luck girl!

  5. Hey i’m doing this read-a-thon too :). And i’m following you on twitter now :).
I haven’t read any of these books except for Daughter of smoke and bone. I loved the first half of the book but I was disappointed by the rest of the book :/. I hope you’ll like it more than me ! It’s amazing to read a book set in Prague though :).

  6. Good luck! My sister bought DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE recently and I am soooo close to ‘borrowing’ it before she’s even read it herself. Good luck with another cracking read-a-thon, and see you on the Twitterverse for more chatting and cheering! 🙂

  7. You have a great list of books to read from. I always find it hard when I am doing a read a thon to pick books. so many books and not enough time. Good luck with the remainder of the read a thon
