Synopsis:

Kiora needs answers. Who is the Shadow? Who is Jasmine? Are they connected? And even more pressing—how can she stop the Shadow from using her dreams as a map to find them? They have escaped three times, but are living on borrowed time—and everybody knows it.

Kiora’s search will push her closer to Alcander, send her to the dragon mountain of Toopai, and lead straight back to Meros—where magic will finally return to the land of no magic. Answers will be uncovered and plans unearthed that have been waiting for thousands of years.

But with the Shadow’s forces gathering, the rebels are hurtling toward one outcome: war. Armed with knowledge and hope, Kiora is determined to change that path, but will fate allow it? Or will it teach her a hard lesson about following her own destiny?

What I thought:

If you’ve read the first two books, which I suggest you do, then you know you’re in for a lot in this one! There is still tons of magic, including awesome fight scenes, and even more dragons! I loved the dragons from the previous book and the bunch you meet here are cool, especially their Queen. One scene with her actually made me tear up a bit, just so much emotion randomly hits you!

In the previous books, I kept mentioning how I was rooting for Emane to be with Kiora. For some reason in this one, I switched sides for Alcander. I’m not doing the whole “I’m this dude’s team!”, but you really get to see more of him and learn more about his past and everything he went through. I just wanted him to be happy and the fact that Kiora liked him was cute. I still felt bad for Emane, but there’s one more book so we will see what happens there. Now, I’m not fond on one of the main reasons why Kiora decided to fall for another guy (being unable to touch him) but with all that`s going on I can understand that it`s hard for her to think fully on something.

So aside from this having lots of action and magic fight scenes and cute budding romance, it’s a great continuation of this series. I was able to just jump right into it and enjoy myself. Definitely recommend this series!
