Gwyn Jacobs doesn’t believe in fairy tales. Ever since her ex-husband walked out, leaving her alone with three small children, Gwyn has been mother, father, and bread-winner all rolled into one. Her own scarred heart aside, she refuses to open up her children’s lives to the possibility of another heartbreak, and so she has an unbending policy of no dating and no unattached men in their lives.

Until her very own fairy tale falls into her lap…and the hero won’t take no for an answer.

What I thought:

Have you been looking for one of those cute romances where the unlikely couple meet and fall for each other? This definitely fits that and more. Also the author is local, and this was set in Ottawa so I actually knew the places talked about!

Gwynneth is a mother of three and she devotes everything to her kids. She hasn’t had another man in her life since her husband left either. When she meets Gareth, a Hollywood star, she thinks nothing would be possible with him until they both start falling for each other. It was so cute to watch that happen, especially when she would always get jumbled up trying to talk. Which is what I would probably do too.

There is of course doubt whether things could actually work, but Gwyn is so worried about her kids being hurt and getting too attached that she doesn’t try and think of herself and what she wants. Gareth has some secrets that he’s not sharing, which adds to the weight hanging over both of them, but he really is a nice guy and just wants to do what’s right. He’s also a natural with her kids, and who doesn’t love a man that will clean your kitchen and do dishes on the second date!

Along with the drama, the budding romance and the laughs, there’s the steamy sexy scenes. I had asked the author whether this book would make me cry, and she said there would be giggles and maybe a bit of steam. There was definitely both! And I loved all of it too.

If you’re looking for a fun adult romance that will leave you feeling happy at the end, then definitely pick this one up!
