What I thought:

I know the description for this is pretty short, but if you’ve read the first book you’ll get a vague sense that more people are after her because she’s a witch. The first book’s group wanted to recruit her, this new group wants her gone.

I liked the first book, so I’m glad that this one got even better instead of falling short. There’s more action and danger and of course romantic tension. For instance Seth wants to take the next step, but Anna still has it in her head that he doesn’t really love her, and at one point it had me yelling at her that she’s an idiot. She still hasn’t grown that much and doubts herself, as well she’s still holding back her powers. Luckily the ending (which was totally awesome) hints that maybe she’s finally going to take that step towards making her witchy powers stronger and controllable. I really hope she does too.

I also liked the little look into her past where she finds out more about her mother, but not a whole lot so that it made me want more. Her witch companions were there to help her again in this, and I still think Emmaline is awesome, but you also get to know more about Abe which was nice. I’m hoping he’s in the next book more.

If you enjoyed the first book, definitely go right to this one next. And if you’re new to this series, pick it up, it would be a great Halloween read!
