He’s a Wyr warrior, a god of storms. She’s the heir to the Dark Fae throne. But desire will bring both to their knees in this all-new Novel of the Elder Races.
During the rule of her murderous Dark Fae uncle, Thistle “Tricks” Periwinkle found sanctuary among the Wyr in New York. Her ethereal beauty and sparkling personality won the hearts of the public, but after her uncle’s death, there are those who don’t want to see her ascend to the throne.
Able to wield thunder and lightning, Wyr sentinel Tiago Black Eagle has ruled the skies for centuries. His massive build and thunderous power make him one of the Wyr’s best weapons. And he’s sent to protect Tricks when she’s almost assassinated in Chicago.
Soon, both Tiago and Tricks will fall prey to the stormy hunger that engulfs them—a passion that will shake the very foundation of all the worlds.
What I thought:
I suggest 18+ for sexy scenes
This is the second book in the series, but it does not continue with Pia. It changes the main romantic couple to Tricks and Tiago and I totally welcomed the switch!
Tricks (Niniane) is a fairy of the Dark Fae, and the rightful ruler of her people. On her way to take the throne her life is at risk, and Tiago hunts her down and decides to protect her. She seems like she’s a lot of fun to be around, but she has bad memories of what Urien did to her family when she was younger. She also now has to worry about politics and of course whether Tiago really feels something for her and how that whole thing could work out. I loved how well she interacted with others and had them warm up to her.
Now Tiago is another muscly guy, who’s great at killing and most people fear him. He’s the only thunderbird Wyr, and he’s pretty powerful too! He seems like the type who would never smile, but I like how Niniane brings a different kind of personality out of him. Oh, he’s still scary and strong and you wouldn’t want to cross him, but he has a protective side for her and they’re kind of cute together in their own weird way.
This book focuses a lot on Niniane’s trouble with their possible relationship and if it will work, and securing herself on the throne without incident and of course some steamy scenes. The mystery of who was behind everything was pretty good too. I think I liked this book just about as much as the first!
