Synopsis from Goodreads

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well… There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger… and they know it.

What I Thought

If you haven’t read the first few books, I suggest going and reading those first. I try not to have any spoilers, but it’s harder when you’re into a series not to give things away from past books.

Katy and Daemon are now officially a couple, and while they have a few small fights they really work well together. You get to see much more of the cute but sexy Daemon and it’s nice how he treats her and wants to protect her.

Katy’s powers are still around and her bond to Daemon is still cool and really seems like a lifesaver at times. She doesn’t want to be the weak girl left behind so she helps out as best she can, especially with a certain dangerous mission later in the book. She’s changed and she’s still trying to work out what she’s done, but she has grown and I’m excited to see how she discovers herself more as this series goes on.

People from past books come back, including one that I really hated and still do. They’re all grieving in this book from past deaths, but there’s also hope when it’s possible to rescue others. There’s even more action and of course Luxen fighting and using their powers which I love. The ending was intense and although I don’t like what happened because of a certain guy, I’m really excited to find out how things work out in the next book.

  1. I’ve read the first three books in this series (I count Obsidian 😉 ) and I LOVE them, but I refuse to read that last three until Opposition comes out b/c I’ve heard this book has the cliffhanger that makes all other cliffhangers weep for their inadequacy. I’m glad it rates 5 stars for you though. AND if you haven’t read Obsidian, you should definitely consider it, b/c it. Is. Awesome.

    • Do you mean Shadows, or what the novella thing is called? If so I still do have to read that.
I’m excited for Opposition to be out, and it’s kind of a good thing you’re waiting, you’ll want the next book fast!

I love comments! Feel free to leave one, and if it doesn't show up right away don't worry, I just have to approve it.
