Synopsis from Goodreads

He will watch over her…

In the latest Novel of the Elder Races, an untested young woman must claim her place as the Oracle—and contend with a powerful Djinn who has decided to become a part of her life…

As a second daughter, Grace Andreas never had to worry about the intrigues of the Elder Races. But when her sister, Petra, and Petra’s husband are both killed, Grace inherits the Power and responsibilities of the Oracle of Louisville, as well as her sister’s two young children—neither of which she is prepared for.

Yet, she is not alone. Khalil, Demonkind and Djinn prince of House Marid—driven by his genuine caring for the children—has decided to make himself a part of the household both as their guardian and as an exasperating counterpoint to Grace’s impudence toward the Elder Races.

But when an attempt is made on Grace’s life, she realizes that Khalil is the only one who can protect her—and offer her more than a mortal man…

What I Thought

I suggest 18+ for sexy scenes

This book is by far my favourite out of all of them so far! Not only was there romance and passion mixed with some danger but quite a few moments had me either laughing or giggling. The first three books feature some of the Wyr boys and their immortal girls. This one completely changes that and shows us one of the Djinn, Khalil, and the human Oracle, Grace. They fit the series well but they were a nice breath of fresh air since they were also different.

Khalil was really cool as a Djinn. He could change form from just power to mostly physical to full, and I really loved how he cared for the well being of the kids and Grace too. The fact that he was so gentle with them was so cute. He definitely doesn’t seem like the kind of guy you want to piss off either but his bickering with Grace was kind of fun. He didn’t fully comprehend certain human things and he gave me a lot of laughs while he tried to figure them out. I loved the scene with the pancakes!

Grace is the new Oracle who also has taken on the task of her deceased sister’s kids. She has it hard especially since she was injured in the accident that killed them as well. I really liked how she kept trying and would do anything for the kids though. Her own command of her power was cool especially later on with her Oracle one. She proved that even the human girls can be strong.

There was a big buildup to the end as we found out what/who the threat was to Grace and the kids, and it was pretty awesome and explosive (you’ll understand when you read this). I think these two made a cute couple and I loved seeing them slowly fall for each other. This book is just so full of awesome and I really had a hard time putting it down.
