Synopsis from Goodreads:

With the Experiment in Terror show finding some success, amateur ghost hunters Perry Palomino and Dex Foray embark on their most terrifying investigation yet. A tiny, fog-shrouded island in the rough strait between British Columbia and Washington State has held a dark secret for decades: It was a former leper colony where over forty souls were left to rot, die and bury each other. Now a functioning campground, Perry and Dex spend an isolated weekend there to investigate potential hauntings but as the duo quickly find out, there is more to fear on D’Arcy Island than just ghosts. The island quickly pits partner against partner, spiraling the pair into madness that serves to destroy their sanity, their relationship and their very lives.

What I Thought:

This book is the creepiest in the series so far! The ghosts really out-do themselves and they’re even more dangerous. I was worrying the whole time if they would be safe and what was going to happen. I really have a hard time putting this series down so far.

On to the scary parts! One scene involves these really creepy deer while the two are camping, and oh my gosh it scared me. I’m always worrying something is going to try and get in the tent when we go camping and that scene made it worse. And then there’s the raccoons that are just insane and it reminds me slightly how we had annoying raccoons on a camping trip once that ate almost all our food, but at least they weren’t that bad! In other words I’m scared to go camping again, especially if it’s on an island lol.

Perry and Dex’s relationship as friends grows and their tempers do as well, especially with the ghosts messing with them. We learn a bit more about each character and their past too which was great. Perry is still in love with Dex, but I can’t understand why he’s with his current girlfriend to be honest. (I’m reading book 4 as I type this and I kind of hate her but still).

If you’re looking for a good horror series, with great characters and lots of danger and scares, definitely go and start this one. I’m totally hooked on it!
