On Hiatus

As of today, I’m taking a break from blogging. So this will be the last post for a while. I’m not sure when I’ll be coming back, but either this will be the break I need to get back into this or I’ll end up stopping permanently.

I just haven’t felt really into it the past year, and I’ve been struggling to get content up. It used to be fun but lately I just don’t find joy in it anymore. And since it’s a hobby, I don’t want to force myself to keep going and give myself any more stress. Since the new year I haven’t written any new posts aside from this one (all reviews that went up this year were scheduled in December). And to be honest it’s been a bit of a relief. I’m still reading, but now I’m not worrying what I’m going to say about the book the whole time I’m reading it.

I will still be around on Twitter, Instagram and Goodreads, and I will still be reading. Maybe not as much as before since I want to do more things with my spare time, especially catch up on video games.

Thank you to everyone who’s visited and commented on my blog. If I do decide to start this back up I’ll make sure I write up a post to let everyone know.

Favourite Books of 2015!

It’s time again for me to share my favourite books of the year! 2015 was crazy. I had a lot of trouble with reading and blogging, especially near the end. But I did manage to beat my Goodreads goal of 60 by reading 87 books! It’s always hard to choose the best of them, especially since I had a lot of 5 star ratings this time. So to make it easier, I will not be including re-reads since they were already a 5 star before as well. There were so many good books this year but I don’t have the space to add every single one. So here are a few of my selections that really stood out to me. They include ARCs, older books, and newer ones. They are in no particular order! All links go to Goodreads.

Taking a small break

If you follow me on Twitter then you know I’ve had a lot of trouble getting into blogging these past few months. It even affected my reading for a while. I think scheduling 3 reviews every week in September didn’t help at all. So I decided that during December no posts would go up and I would take a small break until the new year. It’s the slowest month for views on here anyway, and I want to focus on family during Christmas and the new year.

I’m not sure if it was just a slump or something else that was bringing this on. Blogging and writing reviews felt like a chore that I wasn’t looking forward to. I even debated stopping blogging for a while because I didn’t think I would be able to get back into it.

But I do still want to do this, and I realized I just needed a bit of a change. I’ve even been focusing on reading my own books and not writing reviews for them as part of my break. Even re-reading some that I loved, which really helped! I would also miss the blogging community, although I would still keep in contact with everyone if I had stopped blogging. A lot of bloggers and authors have been so nice to me and some have even been inspiring me and encouraging me to keep up with this.

So as I type this I’ve already been thinking of ideas and I’m planning some stuff for the new year. I’m not going to focus solely on reviews, but I’m hoping to have a variety of book blogging stuff and maybe even some other things over time, depending on what direction I decide to take. It will be slow to start but I’m going to take my time and enjoy it.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me, and I’ll see you in the new year!
